St Neots Chinese Medical Centre is a family run Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) Clinic since 2006. We have offered over 20,000 treatments and helped a lot of people with all types of pains, chronic ailments, infertility, emotional issues and more in and around St Neots. We are really proud that in the year 2015, Chinese Scientist Tu Youyou was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for her discovery of Artemisinin or Qinghaosu (pronounced:Ching-hao-su).Treatments containing an artemisinin derivative (artemisinin-combination therapies, ACTs) are now standard treatment worldwide for P. falciparum malaria. Artemisinin is isolated from the plant Artemisia annua,(Chinese Name:Qinghao, pronounced:Ching-hao-su)a herb employed in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The medicinal value of this plant has been known to the Chinese for at least 2,000 years. In 1596, Li Shizhen recommended tea made from qinghao specifically to treat malaria symptoms in his "Compendium of Materia Medica".

TCM is a unique, distinct and independent medical system that has been practised in China for more than 5000 years, long before Western medicine began. TCM treats the body as an integrated system and recognizes that energy levels can get out of balance, or organ function can underachieve or be overactive. It has developed over centuries, supported by a wealthy of clinical experience and deep understanding of the human body and how it works. In Western societies, it is often called alternative or complementary medicine but, for millions of people in China and other Asian counries, TCM is still a primary method of healthcare. TCM can certainly play an important role in restoring the normal functioning of the human body, essential for fighting disease and healing the body.

If you look at any TCM university's undergraduate program in China , you will clearly see that in the 5 years full time study, the students will be taught Normal Human Anatomy, Biochemistry ,Physiology, Pathology, Clinical Integrative Chinese & Western Medicine etc together with TCM courses.
